August Bicycle Exports Rebound as Bikes, Electric Bikes and Parts Rise
Teilen
In August 2026 bicycle exports increased, the values of exports of complete bicycles, electric bicycles and bicycle parts all being higher than they had been in July.
The most recent trade figures indicate a general monthly rebound following two months of weakness. Shipments to both the U.S. and European markets rose in a number of main categories. Yet most export values were still less than those recorded at the same time last year, proving that the industry's recovery is still uneven.
August Exports Rise Across All Three Categories
Bicycle exports fully covered by CCC Code 87120010 amounted to $75.79 million in August, which is an increase of 22.25 on those of $62.00 million in July. They were still 9.51 per cent lower than in August 2025.
The value of electric bike exports was $55.37 million, representing a monthly increase of 9.82% but a year-on-year decrease of 12.75%.
The price of bicycle parts also rose, reaching $129.74 million in August, which was an 11.35% increase on the figure for July, even so exports were still 5.65% lower than they had been a year before.
| Complete Bicycles | $75.79M | +22.25% | -9.51% |
| Electric Bikes | $55.37M | +9.82% | -12.75% |
| Bicycle Parts | $129.74M | +11.35% | -5.65% |
The figures for August indicate that the improvement was not confined to just one product category; in fact, complete bikes saw the largest monthly rise, with electric assist bikes and parts also resuming growth.
U.S. Complete Bicycle Exports Turn Positive
There was a noticeable improvement in the number of complete bicycles shipped in the U.S. market.
In August complete bicycle exports to the United States amounted to $20.36 million, an increase of 11.58 per cent compared with July and 5.09 per cent when compared with August 2025. The value of electric bike exports was $15.54 million, representing a monthly increase of 10.57 per cent, even though they were still 7.80 per cent lower on an annual basis. The bicycle parts went in the opposite direction and August exports dropped to $13.62 million, a decrease of 10.69 percent from July and 9.29 percent from the previous year.
The evidence indicates that the demand for complete bicycles rose during the month, while that for parts stayed on a relatively cautious level.
European Complete Bicycle Exports Jump More Than 30%
Europe saw an even more vigorous recovery on a monthly basis.
The total value of bicycle exports was $31.52 million, a rise of 30.73 compared to July. This figure was still 11.81 per cent less than the $35.75 million seen the previous year. The amount exported by electric bikes rose by 13.02 per cent to $34.83 million, and the year-on-year decrease had narrowed down to 2.20 per cent.
Exports of bicycle parts also increased sharply, amounting to $77.21 million, which is a month-on-month rise of 17.59% but a year-on-year decrease of 12.37%.
Year-to-Date Data Shows a Mixed Recovery
In the global market, bicycle exports amounted to $486.10 million, a decrease of 4.00% compared to the corresponding period in 2025. Exports of electric bikes reached $384.34 million, showing a more significant drop of 17.35%. Bicycle parts, on the other hand, were more stable with exports totaling $983.14 million, a decline of only 2.17%.
| Complete Bicycles | $486.10M (-4.00%) | $142.46M (-7.91%) | $211.39M (+0.84%) |
| Electric Bikes | $384.34M (-17.35%) | $94.30M (-35.22%) | $243.63M (-6.32%) |
| Bicycle Parts | $983.14M (-2.17%) | $116.84M (-3.50%) | $592.35M (-5.47%) |
In the data, Europe was the only major market to show year-to-date growth in complete bicycles, the level of exports increasing by 0.84%.
The most significant drop was in the amount of electric bikes exported to the United States, falling from $145.57 million in the first eight months of 2025 to $94.30 million in 2026, a decline of 35.22%.
Frames and Brake Parts Pick Up
The value of exports of brakes and brake parts increased more noticeably, amounting to $19.13 million, up from $14.99 million in July and $17.59 million in June.
| Frames, Forks & Related Parts | $47.40M | $37.40M | $38.89M |
| Brakes & Related Parts | $17.59M | $14.99M | $19.13M |
The fact that the brake component figures are higher points to a clear recovery in this section of the supply chain in August.
Can the August Rebound Continue?
August saw a clear improvement on a month-to-month basis in the sales of complete bicycles, electric bicycles, and bicycle parts, and both the United States and Europe had stronger shipments in a number of key categories.
The year-on-year situation is still rather cautious, with most categories still beneath those of 2025, and the 35.22% year-to-date drop in smart electric bike exports to the U.S. remains one of the principal weak points.
While August could be an early indication that seasonal demand and a surge in orders are aiding shipments, the data from September and October will be key to showing if the recovery can carry on.
